(4) George Mauchlan, , <Cloth> Dealer, widower of Christina Bell, died aged 66 on the 23rd December 1891 at Earlston, Berwickshire of <Hemiplagia>, bronchitis. His parents were not listed (possibly suggesting they did not come from that area). Adam Mauchlan son was informant on the 23rd December 1891 at Earlston.

The memorial consists of a plain stone obelisk about 55 feet high, which has been designed by Captain R Mauchlen, M. C. late of the Durham Light Infantry…..’

‘The Fire at Tinity Church, Newcastle – Trinity Presbyterian Church, Northumberland Road, Newcastle. … There were workmen employed on the roof when it is said one of the electric wires fused….. The efforts of the fireman to save the tower, the hall, the vestries and a beautiful staine dglass window were successful…… The church was erected by Mr G Mauchlen of Newcastle, the foundation-stone having been laid on may 31, 1895 by Mr (now Sire) Donald Currie. Mr Mauchlen completed the works six months before the time stipulatedand the new church was opened on May 24, 1896 by Mr A H McBryde…..
